Hirvi - Ähtäri Zoo

Alces alces

The moose is Finland’s largest animal. It is an impressive animal, despite being a bit odd-looking: it has long legs and a short neck, and on its bumpy-looking head the upper lip is considerably larger than the bottom lip. Moose can live up to 20 years. Finland’s forests are home to many moose, but they are a rare sight to behold when strolling through the woods.

Conservation status

LC stands for “least concern.” The species is well-known, and the population is abundant or stable.
