4 star camping area just next to a zoo in a natural environment
Ähtäri Zoo Camping is located right next to Ähtäri Zoo and Hotel Mesikämmen and surrounded by a beautiful lake. The camping area has over 80 RV places with electricity, tent area and different sizes of cottages for rent. Our camping is a family oriented area with lots of activities for the whole family. We don't only have an amazing zoo, but also plenty of natural walking trails that immerse you to the Finnish nature, beautiful and sandy beach, minigolf, gas operated grills for free use of our guests and also fire pit areas for everyone to enjoy and our own pizza restaurant. Less than a mile away there's also an ecological adventure park Flowpark, an 18-hole golf course Ähtärin Golf and Sauna restaurant Kiulu.

For the price of one -get two days in our zoo!
Ähtäri Zoo Camping is located opposite the zoo. On the other side of the road from our reception building, there's the zoo's a moose enclosure, and our own entrance gates lead directly into the middle of the zoo tour. Forget about ticket queues and searching for parking spaces and walk straight from our campsite into the animal world! When you stay and buy the Zoo ticket at Zoo Camping, your zoo ticket is valid for two days! So, for the price of a one-day ticket, you can easily visit the park for two days through the campsite's own gate.

The reception is located in its own building right in front of the entrance to our campsite. In our reception, there is a café, a pizza restaurant, and a terrace. In the wing of the reception building, there is service building 1 with its shower rooms and a campsite kitchen.
Caravan places are assigned upon check-in. The caravan day ends at 3:00 PM. The keys to the camping cottages can be collected from 4:00 PM onwards and must be returned by 12:00 PM on the day of departure. Please return your caravan place ticket/key to the reception.
If you arrive after the camping reception has closed, check in is done at Hotel Mesikämmen's reception right next to the camping area (direction: Karhunkierros 149).
Prices
The price for tent and camping places at our campsite consists of a place fee and a per-person fee. The price for camping cottages, on the other hand, is a fixed cottage rate. If you need an electrical tent place, you can reserve a caravan place. With a valid SF-caravan card, you get a €3 discount on the place fee.
Electric caravan place: €22/day + €7/day/person (payment from maximum 3 persons)
Tent place: €10 + €7/day/person (maximum 3 persons)
Caravan placess can be reserved through the Visit Ähtäri online store for stays of at least 1 day. Same-day bookings can be made by calling the reception at +358 30 6215 216.

Mid summer 2024!
Celebrate Midsummer with the whole family in Ähtäri Zoo Camping! Our campsite's green surroundings, child-friendly sandy beach, and proximity to animals and services are perfect for creating an ideal Midsummer environment. The flowers used in the Midsummer spells can be found on the nature trails starting from the campsite.
Family Midsummer is celebrated on June 21-22, and all guests will receive a Midsummer wristband for which there is an additional charge. The wristband provided at check-in includes:
- Ähtäri Zoo tickets for two consecutive days (includes the zoo tour, panda house, and farm)
- Give the Zoo's moose their evening snack with our animal on Friday Midsummer Eve, starting from the campsite's own gate at 6pm
- Activity booklet for children, distributed at check-in
- Treasure hunt at the campsite on Midsummer Day, Saturday
- Pancake feast on Midsummer Day, Saturday, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
- Flowpark ticket discount: half-price tickets for the climbing park when purchased on-site and showing the Midsummer wristband
The wristband price is 41€/adult, 26€/child (ages 3-14), and the wristband fee is a one-time charge for arrivals on Friday or Saturday, in addition to the regular campsite/cabin fees. Additional days are charged at the normal accommodation rates.
